Studying the law through the lens of economics is like studying religion through the eyes of a cynic. It’s not that the cynic has nothing interesting or insightful to say. On the contrary, anyone who has ever been at a kiddush knows the power of the cynic to start a thought-provoking conversation. However, any religion whose priests are taught primarily by cynics is bound to die sooner or later.
